Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog. We have recently gotten engaged and are now starting to plan our dream Martha's Vineyard wedding. I have been having some difficulty finding good sources of information for planning an MV wedding so I decided that I will document our planning process to hopefully help future MV Brides!

A little about me ~ I am a 27 year old living in Boston and, as I mentioned above, am newly engaged! My family and I have been spending our summers on Martha's Vineyard since I was about 12. Now don't be thinking "oh she summers on the Vineyard, must be nice to have that kinda cash to plan a dream wedding..."! The first summer my family spent on-island was at a campsite; we literally camped all summer in the late and great Webb's Campground. Not that I am complaining, some of my favorite family memories were made in that campground! My dad has a small business on the Vineyard but he and my mom also have jobs back on the mainland. Since the Vineyard business is seasonal my dad heads to the island for the entire summer and my mom joins him on weekends. Us kids have always had he option to spend the week on-island with dad or back on the mainland with mom. I always choose the Vineyard... So that is why when we got engaged I immediately wanted to start planning a Vineyard wedding.

A bit about my finance ~ Mike brings so much happiness to my life. We met in college and are now planning to be married exactly 8 years to the day that we were first introduced. He has grown to love the Vineyard almost as much as I do. We spent one summer in a cottage together after graduating and before moving fully into the real world. We are planning to name our head table after the street that cottage was on.

And something about our proposal ~ Mike proposed at the West Chop lookout. He suggested a bike ride one April morning when we were visiting my parents and since this was nothing out of the ordinary I really didn't suspect anything was up. He made a mad dash for the lookout and I was huffing it up Main Street well behind him. When we got to the spot I was a bit annoyed and thoroughly exhausted from trying to keep up. I plopped myself down on the bench and Mike asked me if I liked the spot. I said yes of course he knew this was one of my favorite places and then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him...I wasn't annoyed anymore :)
